Welcome to the Star in Education Foundation

What is Star in Education Foundation?

Today's readers are tomorrow’s leaders

Adults understand that what children learn in school will affect their future; however, students sometimes have difficulty relating how what is taught in the classroom corresponds to real life. That’s where the Star in Education Foundation can help.

The Star in Education Foundation is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to promoting literacy by providing e-Edition copies of the Ventura County Star to all public, private, and parochial schools in Ventura County. The foundation’s focus is to deliver the Ventura County Star e-Edition at no cost to the schools and provide free educational resources to assist teachers to teach students to be critical readers and thinkers as well as active members of their community. The e-Edition is a full replica version of the Ventura County Star.

How does the foundation work?

The Star in Education Foundation is solely supported by corporate donations, sponsorships, vacation donations, grants and fundraisers. The Ventura County Star e-Edition is available at no cost to Ventura County schools based upon the amount of funds available.

Our mission:

The mission of the Star in Education Foundation is to deliver the Ventura County Star e-Edition and provide educational resources at no cost to all public, private, and parochial schools in Ventura County.

Our vision:

To inspire passionate reading, critical thinking, effective decision making and ultimately to make responsible citizens.

"I became a board member of the 'Star In Education Foundation (SIE)' because I believe in the education of our youth, partially in the area of literacy. Through SIE we are able to assist in literacy education as well as help keep our youth abreast of current happenings."

William T. Belcher
Board President
